A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAPLAIN...

Spinning Your Tires ...

It was just a few weeks ago, when mother nature decided to lay down a beautiful white blanket on the ground here in Calgary.   Now personally I love the snow, the quietness, gentleness, peacefulness, and to see it falling is for me - beyond words, and usually I love driving in it also, maybe it‘s the thrill of being on edge - I don‘t know.  But this time I must confess I wasn‘t quite ready for it, the summer “all seasons” were on, I had talked about getting the winter tires purchased, but I just didn‘t get around to it.   I kept saying, “I will” but I was just too busy.   Yeah right.
Well on that beautiful snowy morning my kids and I drove to Chinook and well,  many of you remember that day, as many of you too were in the same predicament - unable to make it up the last part of the hill to get to school.   Good intentions, but spinning fast or spinning slow really didn‘t make a difference, we were stuck.   And although Marco our maintenance guy had plowed and sanded the driveway, with the constant snow falling, he had to continue plowing and as he would plow off the snow, off went the sand intended to give traction.   All would have been ok, but Marco ended up running out of the sand, and that left the problem for us “All Season” people.   We were now forced to do it on our own tread, and although many of us made it pretty far, that wasn‘t far enough, and so STUCK became one situation that lead to another and another etc.
But praise the Lord, Marco never left us, he kept coming back with the school‘s 4x4, tying a chain to the cars and hauling them up the hill, until finally everyone was up that needed to get up, and except for a few cars that got some minor bumps and bruises we all made it up ok.  Thank you Marco!
Have you ever faced that situation in your own life?  I mean really spinning the tires of your life but unable to go anywhere, mostly because you didn‘t prepare.  We all have, but today‘s message is to remind us all that we have a compassionate Saviour who never gives up on us, His Children.   He is always willing to save us, if we ask for His help and leading.  Sadly too often, instead of putting on Jesus‘ word daily and preparing for the winters, we quietly ignore Christ and keep using the same old summer tires that the world offers, knowing all too well they won‘t help us in our times of serious peril.
Isaiah 46:4 says this:  (The Lord says,) “Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He, I am He who will sustain you.  I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Chinook Family, God is in the business of seeking, saving and rescuing all who will ask for His help.    I have found God to be a good God and a faithful God.    Let us invite Him to come in and change our old treads and give us a new heart.   God bless and keep each of you as we tread with Him.

Your Brother in Christ,
Paul
